WHAT PEOPLE SAY

  1. Mrs. Reed, Bawtry- Doncaster

My husband Jim was diagnosed with dementia a few years back.  His memory began to deteriorate to the point where at times he would forget who I was, what he needed to be doing and even who he was.  I did not want to put him in a nursing home.  Realising that I could not do it all on my own, I rang CARE FROM HOME who supplied me with two wonderful carers who took over Jim’s care when I was having some time out.  It gave me peace of mind to know that Jim would not wander out of the house unattended.  Surely, I could not have managed without them

Having spent a long period of time in hospital while I had my knees replaced, I knew I would not be able to do many of the things that I could do before I went into hospital.  I would need help with my shopping, cooking, cleaning and driving for my doctor’s appointments.  CARE FROM HOME said they would send me a carer to assist me with my social care.  It made my life so much easier and as I got better and able to do more things for myself, I reduced the amount of care hours that I was receiving.  Thank you

When my husband Tim decided to spend his last days at home, rather than at the hospital or hospice, (He was suffering from terminal prostate cancer), CARE FROM HOME acted promptly in providing me with the support that I needed.  The carers were waiting at home when Tim arrived from hospital and they immediately did all they would to make him more comfortable.  They handled him gently and with empathy.  The care team worked closely with the District Nurses and the GP who were coming in and out to see Tim and keep his pain under control. Their presence allowed me to continue being Tim’s wife and not just his carer.  When he did pass on, they were there to support me.  I couldn’t have done it without you.  Thank you.

When my M.S (Multiple Sclerosis) was progressing, my care package was also increased to 24hr care. Realising that I did not want to go to a residential care home, I requested for 24 hour live in care. Because  I still wanted to practice my own choice and  freedom in my own environment, I requested a live-in carer who would be there for me as when I needed them and stay within the environment of my own choice, which is my home. Review meetings are held regularly and I feel that I am in charge of my own care.
